Dear Parents,
In an effort to keep you informed, we are notifying you of an incident in which a student was found with an inappropriate item in their bookbag.
Administration was alerted to a report of a student with pepper spray. Upon further investigation a low-grade, personal defense spray was found in the student's bookbag and immediately confiscated. At no time was a threat made to students or staff. The student will be held accountable according to the Code of Conduct, and has been removed from school at this time. There was no disruption to the school day and operations continued as normal.
Parents, please take this opportunity to speak with your children about items that are not appropriate for school. Safety of students and staff is a top priority and while there was no threat made, we take incidents like these very seriously. Any suspicious behavior should be reported to an adult or school administrator. If you see something, please say something. Working together, we can continue to provide a safe learning environment for students and staff.
