Dear Parents,
In an effort to keep you informed, we are notifying you of an incident in which two fifth grade students were found with knives and nicotine vapes on a school bus.
Administrators were notified this afternoon that two students were reportedly smoking what appeared to be a vaping device while on the school bus. The students were immediately removed from the bus and upon further investigation, two knives and two vaping devices, which tested positive for nicotine, were discovered. Both students are being held accountable according to the code of conduct and the law.
Safety of students and staff is a top priority, and we take incidents such as these extremely seriously. Parents, please speak with your children about the consequences of bringing inappropriate items to school. Additionally, Red Ribbon Week is taking place next week and we encourage our parents to take this time to talk to their students about the dangers of smoking and drugs.
Please remember that suspicious behavior should always be reported immediately to a teacher, school administrator, or the CCSD Police. If you see something, say something. Working together, we can continue to provide a safe, positive environment for students and staff.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Marlo Leatherwood
Principal
